All right so if you saw my previous video/post my USB c-type hub search you know that I’ve been looking for something that fits nicely inside my Rane mixer box, something that can deliver two or more USB A-Type or USB C-type connections, something that can perform well without being capped by speed restrictions and something that can deliver up to 87W of power similar to my MBP power adapter.

Now the first USB hub I tried did not perform well and during my extended search I did see this other brand that had similar specs, and I decided that I was going to be on a mission to explore the entire lot just to see if I could find a unicorn that fit the bill.

So I received in this DockCase P1 model and I had to put my skeptic hat on since I was burned before. So before I wired everything into my mixer case I was going to try this directly on my laptop first. The good news is that the performance was almost equal to hooking it up directly to the MBP. With speeds hovering around 420MB/s on reads and writes I was just a little shy of the maximum performance that the drive offers.

The hub proved itself right away as a solid performer right out the box. And since it was a similar size and profile of the previous hub things fit into the case very nicely.

The build quality seems quite solid, opting for a hard urethane-like casing which keeps things very secure with joining to the power adapter. You also get a substantial USB-C cable that typically is a costly addition, so it well justifies the nearly $70 price.

In short, this hub delivers on everything I was looking for. Size, performance, connections, and quality build to boot. I am putting this on my must-have list for those that have gone the USB-C route and need a hub.
